Patients

From the many millions of people throughout the world suffering from serious diseases with few if any treatment options to those suffering from debilitating rare Orphan diseases, we at ViroPharma through our research are dedicated to finding new ways to improve the health of patients suffering from serious diseases.

Today, our clinical efforts are primarily focused on Orphan diseases such as hereditary angioedema and in transplant medicine. Our goal is to bring new therapeutic alternatives to patients with potentially life threatening diseases that carry the risks of significant morbidity/mortality and a low quality of life. And, if successful, our work will provide such drugs to patients whose needs are not being met by their current therapeutic options.

ViroPharma's FDA-approved product CINRYZE® (C1 Esterase Inhibitor [human]) is indicated for routine prophylaxis against angioedema attacks in adolescent and adult patients with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). ViroPharma is the industry leader in physician education about HAE, with the goal of assisting physicians in rapid identification of the disease and improving communication about current therapeutic alternatives for these patients.

ViroPharma commercializes VANCOCIN® (Vancomycin Hydrochloride Capsules, USP), a life saving drug for patients suffering from severe Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). Our mission, as stewards of public health related to CDI, is to do all that we can - in every way that we can - by working with physicians toward enabling quick identification and appropriate treatment of patients who are most at risk of severe disease, and to keep other patients infection-free.
